Debt Justice Action are holding a public meeting this Tuesday, 24th of January at the Teacher’s Club. All are welcome.

This public meeting aims to help people in Ireland gain a better understanding of the nature of the debt repayments to former Anglo Irish Bank / Irish Nationwide Building Society (INBS) – How did we as a society end up paying
these debts? What will the impact of these ongoing payments be on our communities, and society at large?
And most crucially, how can we work together to undo this injustice?

This informal information-sharing meeting is open to all individuals and community-based organisations. The meeting will feature:

  • Introduction with Cathleen O’Neill of Kilbarrack Community Development Centre
  • Brief on the Anglo / INBS Debt and Q&As with Tom McDonnell from independent think-tank TASC
  • Group discussions looking at key questions of the impacts paying these debts will have on our communities and what we can do to stop them.

THANK YOU FOR ORGANISING THIS CAMPAIGN. IF WE ALL STICK TO OUR GUNS AND KEEP UP THE PRESSURE THEN, HOPEFULLY, OUR “INTELLIGENT” POLITICIANS WILL FINALLY GET THE MESSAGE AND STOP TRYING TO MAKE US PAY FOR THEIR MONUMENTAL MISTAKES AND THE SKULLDUGGERY OF THE IMMORAL BANKERS AND DEVELOPERS.

I COULD THINK OF LOTS OF OTHER WORDS TO CALL THEM……BUT I’LL BE POLITE !!

AR AGHAIDH LINN ! ! ! GOOD LUCK WITH TUESDAY’S MEETING (HOPE TO BE THERE)

(P.S. I’ve written to our esteemed Minister for Finance).

Great to see this campaign up and running. Every effort should be made to maximise its awareness so people get to know about it. Hopefully with payments on Anglo due next week there will be an opportunity for representatives of this campaign to get on national and regional radio and other media outlets. This will be critical to get momentum and wider public support and engagement.
